Dope Shizz of The Day: Recess - DNA (Video)

I was chilling with my brother today who's like the king of underground listeners and he put me on to this guy named Sene (pronounced Seen). Sene has solo projects as well as projects with his group called Recess. The group is comprised of Sene the rapper and a band that plays instruments and does vocals. I've never heard of the puertorican rapper before but I must say he's a little dope ! He kinda reminded me of J Cole and Kanye when I first listened to him today. And I love his band's harmony in the song ! It's a different mix but very smoove and chill. Definatley worth your time, thank me later.

My Christmas Gift to Myself

I felt like being creative AND I don't have alot of shoes so I did some music shoes for myself ! Not that crazy about 'em because I kinda messed up but I love the colours !

BIG vs. 2PAC -- Really That Deep ?

Played out ? Why yes, yes it is ! It's like comparing a modern day southern rapper to a northern rapper. Two totally different styles and mindsets. It kind of all depends on the style you prefer. 2pac was more poetic and analytical than Biggie ever was. His flow always consisted of some type of metaphorical word play- not at all what Big tried to accomplish.

Big told a story nahdamean ? You might of felt Pac's emotions but you felt Big's whole situation.  You knew how the scene was mapped out whether it be  him with a bunch of females, telling jokes/stories with his boys or that infamous red dot on his boy's head when spotted by the cops. He had an imagination or a memory that he brung to reality in his work which was what I loved about him. I feel as though I should be in another world when I throw my headphones on or turn up my trunk- and Big went ham with the whole mental television thing.
Pac was a little too poetic for me at times. Like his music is cool I'd be the type to prefer to read his rhymes on paper rather than hear 'em over a beat. His word play were dope, no denying that.. but rap consists of more than just clever word play.

Big was a funny bull. He was a jokester, those are the type of people I love in real life because to me, life his funny and if you can make me piss my pants ? Like after he shatted on shorty (lmfaoooo) ? We can be cool peoples lol. The fact he put comedy in his raps was love.. whether he was trying to or not.

That's just me tho !  Based off MY personality, that's why I think Big is the better artist.. his train of thought in his art is appealing to me because I can relate more to the way he thinks. But you're not gonna catch me going back and forth with a dude who bleeds and farts 2pac because it's not that deep. Like people really be about to unfriend you in real life because your musical taste differs as far as the whole Big and Pac ordeal. Sometimes it be little teenagers arguing with you at that ! Like teenagers was newborns when they died lol.. I was 7 n 8 when they died but both of their music was played on the radio heavily for years after they died all throughout my teenage years.. yall 1992 kids on down barely eem existed so relax tho ! They are both hot to me but of course, for obvious reasons, everyone has their preference.

Dondria

Dondria !  This girl is gewd ! But only in videos where she's singing other peoples songs ! I don't know if she writes her own songs or whatever but that "You're The One" song she had ? It was nice and sweet but it was also straight forward as hayle :/. I was disappointed because I was looking for alot more coming from her, you know, the Phatfffat side of her. Don't get me wrong: I like the song because it's a nice, up beat r&b tempo, warm feeling love song.. and it's her first being in the industry. But baby when you have an above average voice and you sing an average sounding song, you sound no better than Keri Hilson (gag), Ciara (gag gag) and etc. And that "Shawty Wasup" that she released shortly after..I wont even get into that Destiny's Child remix sounding stuff lol. She has learn how to make her own song into her own, like she does when she covers other celebrities songs. She might like her own lyrics but when she sings it but it sounds like she doesn't looove or feel  her own because You're The One was a little dry.

Now I haven't heard the rest of her album yet- I might of heard some songs since I've heard random songs by her but a lot of her work doesn't compare to her covers :(. Personally, I think its J.D. I mean, who on J.D.'s team is still relevant ? Oh. Her duets with that Broadway dude are pretty good though. Broadway is a decent singer but he sounds like he needs to work on his breathing; he seems to strain when he sings sometimes but still decent nevertheless. Nothing a good vocal coach couldn't help with.  Shorty is definatley coming into her own and I can't wait to hear more from her soon. I have been listening to her on youtube for years, my first song being her covering Anthony Hamilton's Charlene. Chile I still listen to that song 'til this day because I still love that song and I love her voice. Dondria has this effortless yet playful voice when she sings. Her personality definitely shows through her covers ! When somebody sing a song and improvise in ways that different from the original singer, and it sounds just as good or better, it'll keep me listening :].

GOOD MUSIC - I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU LISTEN AND SUBSCRIBE !

Ty Ultra

Ty Ultra is a 17 year old rap artist from the West Oak Lane section of Philadelphia. The first time I seen Ty Ultra was when he performed along with several other artists at a concert in North Philadelphia a couple of months back. His music has flavor, his hair is big and his "fan call" is catchy, "Ty Ultraaaaaaaaaaaaaaa !" lol ! His work breaks outside the norm with his catchy rock, techno and popish beats ,where he will talk about specific topics such as Our World or allow his mind wander on his other tracks such as Flourescent Adolescent, which is a rather silly up beat song that I find pretty funny. His music sounds so new age to me !. If the Jetsons where real, Elroy and Judy would definitely groove to his music. It's different and sounds futuristic ! Ty Ultra currently has two mixtapes out at the moment; Color Outside the Linez (2010) and The Accents of I (2011).

How long have you been a rapper ?
I have been doing the art of music since I was 12 years of age. I took it serious to an extent but didn't really start recording and putting out material until 14.

What style would you consider your music ?

The style of my work is particularly unique. I would say the way I envision my music is far more than a genre could cover; it would need numerous genres to explain it.

Who are your musical influences ?

My influences mostly were my two cousins who are a musical duo called 787. When I first heard their music, it was really different and the more they created, the more I seen that it was cool to make music how ever you feel instead of conforming to regular music layouts. So yeah, they really opened the way for me.

What made you decide to become a rapper ?

I loved listening to music and my older cousin was like my big bro considering I don't have one so I kind of did the things he did just because I looked up to him. After awhile I fell in love with the art form for my own reasons and never looked back.

What do you hope to accomplish with your music ?

As an artist, I hope to be able to better a persons day with my work. I want a person to be able to turn on one of my songs after a bad day and just put a smile on their face because  in this world that we live in there is so much sorrow that us as people need something to make life a little better.

What do you like to do in your spare time ?

I either draw, do graphic design or research. They are all fun and it keeps my imagination up to par.

What would be your advice for somebody trying to become an artist like you ?

You have to work heard, like seriously work hard if you plan to be successful in this world, but mainly stay true to yourself and people will love to hear you for you.

"My trade is a recording artist or as
I like to say a musical dream weaver lol"

My favourite song from Ty Ultra would have to be Mysterious Girl Remix. The beat is hot and so is the flow and concept. A prime example of that Jetson steez lol ! The song has a futuristic sound- like right now I see myself right now dancing with robots lol. Yea, I'm silly like that, shoot me but it's mentally relaxing and fun ! One thing I love about Ty Ultra's work is that he's not calling women derogatory names or talking about selling dope or doing drugs to get recognition from the rap community. He has a vivid imagination which he readily exposes onto an instrumental. The music you get is Ty Ultra, which is great because real music is based off of personality.
When somebody makes a song, it's their job to tell a story or create a scenario through my speakers based off of how they would react in the particular situation discussed or the scenario their imagination is producing at the current moment. I want to see what you see too, so if you don't have an imagination and can not creatively describe what goes on in your head, people wont be able to relate and your music (or any art form for that matter) probably wont get far. If you cant be yourself on a track, you're either not ready to record or not fit to be an artist. Look at B.O.B. Dude is weird as ever but his songs knock because his personality pours all over his tracks. Every time he spits, you know it's him...unlike when Trey Songz raps mixtapes. The brotha just sounds like a low-budget Drake !
