This guy right here has got to be one of the top photographers in the city of Philadelphia. I love his concepts when it comes to developing a scenario for the models. Ricky Codio's quite different than the average photographer. He takes a model doing something ordinary against a plain background and transforms it by way of his computer into this creative concept. I don't know which software he uses (probably Photo Shop lol), but I've got to learn how to use it one day ! I'm not computer illiterate by any means, but there's so much you can do with technology nowadays that it still blows my mind. Like I said before in one of my previous blog entries, the cameras don't make photography, artists do ! Ricky is blessed with an eye not only for photography but dope art.
Name: Ricky Codio
Age: 21
How long have you been doing photography ?
I've been a photographer for 3 years.
What type of camera do you use ?
The camera I use is the Cannon 7D.
What would you consider the style of photography that you do ?
The style is called visual stimulating; I want what you see to be a treat for your sight.
What influenced you to do photography ?
What do you hope to accomplish with it?
What do you do like to do for fun in your spare time ?
I love the picture of the first model. She seems to be stepping outside of the box (or in this case, tire) from 'normal life' life into her own reality. Pretty much like a thinking outside the frame concept.
And shorty's face in that third pic?! As an Eagles fan who has witnessed the poor performance of her team ALL SEASON... I can relate to that girl's terminator transformation face. Lol.
The photo of the model with glass shards covering her face is really stunning. I like her expression and how the light is gazing down from the back, with the darkness surrounding the pieces of glass. She looks sad, as if she wants you to feel her mental pain through her eyes. The broken shards represent a broken soul, displacement. That probably isn't the concept but to me she looks as if something worries her.
I don't know why, but the last picture to me looks like an ad for the water bottle she's holding. Even though the water isn't the focal point of the picture, she seems reacting as if the water has made her rejuvenated, reinvented. I know you're probably thinking.. " Come on Miss X, all that from water though?" I always feel that America is an unhealthy nation and people constantly complain about being fat, tired or lethargic. Little do those type of people know is that if they intake healthy things into their body, they will feel a lot better about themselves - inside and out ! Lol, roll your eyes all you want but to me the picture is an exaggeration of refreshment from the water that she drank.
I like the name he gave his style, especially since that is exactly was is work consists of !
What influenced you to do photography ?
My imagination and my passion to escape from the normal influence me.
What do you hope to accomplish with it?
I hope my craft helps me get ahead so that I can focus on screen writing.
What do you do like to do for fun in your spare time ?
I like to work lol, chill with friends and actually have shoots since it's my job but it's also my favorite thing to do.
Do you have any advice for people who are interested in taking up photography?
If you're passionate about what you're, doing it will show.
